What is a food system? A food system is how we get our food. It includes all the activities that are involved in making food to feed people. 

How are you part of the food system?

 

People are involved in every part of the food system, from growing crops and raising animals to processing and packaging food products, to transporting products to markets and supplying grocery stores and markets.

  • Crop farmers grow crops for food, fuel and fibre.
  • Livestock farmers and fishers raise animals for food and fibre.
  • Food manufacturers process and package food products
  • Stores and markets sell the food products that are made by farmers and food manufacturers.
